Since 2016, we have helped numerous former players as they have begun their battle with cancer. Many have been victorious both on and off the courts and fields. Our goal is to help them win this battle.

Our Mission

Once a person is an athlete, he or she never competes alone.  The mission of Teammates 4 Life Foundation is to provide a team of support to former college athletes battling cancer.  We provide moral and financial support to athletes to help them as they compete against their toughest opponent, cancer.

“Teammates 4 Life is about shared experiences that bond a group of people for a lifetime. When I was coaching I always talked to prospects about a four year experience that would not only produce a lifetime of memories, but a lifetime brotherhood. I am proud to say I have that with my brothers and teammates from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Our goal is simple – to be there for each other and our teammates like we were when playing. Teammates 4 Life is for any group or team that has a shared experience that is bigger than the moment.”

Founders

The four founders arrived on the Teaneck Campus of Fairleigh Dickenson University, in August of 1974, to begin their journey of playing Division I basketball under head coach Al Lobalbo. They have retained their friendship for over forty-three years. During this time they realized they weren't former teammates, but teammates for life. As they found some of their teammates, competitors, and coaches diagnosed with cancer, they decided to take steps to share their bond.
